Annular Solar Eclipse on February 6, 2027
Annular Solar Eclipse on February 6, 2027
Where can you see the ring of fire?
The annular path crosses parts of the following countries and regions:
-
South America: southern Chile and Argentina, with the path extending toward Uruguay and Brazil.
-
West Africa: including parts of Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Togo, Benin and Nigeria.
-
Partial eclipse: visible across much wider areas of South America and Africa, as well as parts of Antarctica and the Atlantic and Pacific oceans.
For the ring-of-fire effect, you must be inside the narrow path of annularity. Outside it, the Moon will cover only part of the Sun.

Can you see it from Switzerland?
If you're in Zurich or elsewhere in Switzerland, this eclipse will not be visible. Switzerland lies outside the eclipse's visibility region.
If you're planning an eclipse trip, southern Argentina or Chile offers opportunities to see the annular phase. Parts of West Africa also lie along the path, although the Sun will be low near sunset at some locations.
How to watch safely
-
Use certified eclipse glasses that comply with ISO 12312-2.
-
Never look directly at the Sun through ordinary sunglasses, binoculars or a camera without the appropriate solar filter.
-
You must keep your eye protection on even during the ring-of-fire phase; unlike a total eclipse, the Sun is never completely covered.
